Thanks to all the people who have replied here! Linux – Hardware This forum is for Hardware issues. Linuc printer recommendations, please? Your reference to the auto remove command is interesting because how does it know which files are no longer needed? Brother lasers are very cheap to buy and maintain, and they work flawlessly under Linux in my experience.

On the subject of reference works, being new to Ubuntu I downloaded the Getting Started user guide but this is too high a level which would be good for something like Windows but not for a Linux system ,inux appears to require more terminal command line knowledge.
