Make sure your IDE cables are properly connected, jumpers are set to master and slave, and power is connected. CD-Rom’s do not need drivers, they use firmware which is burned into the hardware like a bios and Windows supplies the basic ASPI driver needed to read and write data from them.

It was working fine, but I had restarted the computer and went out with that problem. What you’ll want to do, after you have all the necessary files copied onto a floppy disk, boot the laptop to a dos prompt Is it connected properly – cable on right??
